2025 Stock Market Holidays On May 1, the stock market will be closed for Maharashtra Day. This day marks the creation of Maharashtra state in 1960. Both Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) are in Mumbai, which is why the market observes this holiday.
The stock market will be closed on May 3 and May 4, as these days fall on Saturday and Sunday.
The stock market will remain open on Akshaya Tritiya, which falls on April 30. The term “Akshaya” means “eternal” or “never diminishing,” while “Tritiya” refers to the third lunar day. It is celebrated on the third day of the bright half of the Vaishakha month in the Hindu calendar.
