McLaren’s Lando Norris feels the pressure mounting as teammate Oscar Piastri builds momentum in the F1 title race.
Miami GP: Norris Urges Himself to ‘Get a Move On’ as Piastri Closes In
Lando Norris remains optimistic about rediscovering his peak performance, expressing confidence that he’ll be “back to his best soon enough” as he and the McLaren team continue to refine the 2025 car. The focus has been on tailoring the car to better suit his driving style, with ongoing adjustments aimed at boosting his confidence and comfort behind the wheel.
Lando Norris has stated he is not concerned by the increasing momentum of his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in the Formula 1 title race, though he acknowledges the need to improve his own performance, admitting he “needs to get a move on.”
For the first time this season, Norris slipped from the lead in the Drivers’ Championship standings as Piastri continued his strong form with a win in Saudi Arabia — his second consecutive and third overall victory in the opening five Grands Prix.
Norris, however, maintained that he was “not worried at all” about his teammate gaining momentum at this stage of the season. He expressed confidence in his ability to adapt to McLaren’s pacesetting car and return to peak form soon.
“He’s doing a great job and he deserves it. There’s nothing more to say about that,” Norris commented on Piastri’s strong performance.
Norris also downplayed the significance of momentum, stating: “I don’t put much stock in the momentum thing—just my personal view. I’m focusing on what I can control.”
Admitting that he had made some mistakes, Norris remained optimistic: “Clearly, I haven’t been at the level I need to be, but I believe I’ll get there soon enough. There’s no need to worry—it’s only the sixth race of 24. I won’t keep saying that forever.”
