12 Tourists Injured in Terror Attack at Baisaran, Pahalgam in J&K; PM Modi Discusses Situation with Amit Shah

Gunfire was reported in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, prompting security forces to rush to the scene, police said on Tuesday.

A terrorist attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir left at least 12 tourists injured. Security forces were deployed to the area after gunshots were heard.

Police said initial reports indicated a possible terror attack at a popular tourist spot.

An eyewitness reported that unidentified gunmen fired at the tourists from close range, injuring several individuals.

“My husband was shot in the head while seven others were also injured in the attack,” a woman survivor told PTI over the phone.

Officials said a helicopter was deployed to evacuate the injured, while some of the wounded were carried down from the meadows by locals using ponies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, held a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Pahalgam terror attack and directed him to ensure all appropriate actions are taken.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti reports that five people have been killed

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned today’s terrorist attack in Pahalgam and demanded a comprehensive investigation. She also confirmed that at least five people were killed in the attack.

“I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Such violence is unacceptable and must be denounced,” Mufti said.

“Historically, Kashmir has welcomed tourists warmly, making this rare incident deeply concerning. A thorough investigation is needed to bring the perpetrators to justice and examine potential security lapses. Ensuring visitor safety is paramount, and steps must be taken to prevent future attacks,” she added.
