Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2 has finally hit theatres worldwide today, and early signs point to a promising box office run. As per data from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has already raked in nearly ₹3 crore through advance bookings.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film features a powerful ensemble cast including R Madhavan and Ananya Panday. Critics have praised the film as “powerful” and “gripping,” suggesting a solid opening weekend is on the horizon.

Inspired by true events, Kesari Chapter 2 tells the story of C. Sankaran Nair, a fearless barrister who stood up to the British Empire in court following the horrific Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. Akshay Kumar takes on the role of Nair, while R Madhavan portrays British lawyer Neville McKinley. Ananya Panday plays the character of Dilreet Gill. The film is adapted from the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
